Senator Inhofe Congratulates Rep. Mullin on Passage of Bill Honoring Native American Veterans

Friday, December 20, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) praised Senate passage of the Native American Veterans’ Memorial Amendments Act of 2013 (H.R. 2319) late Thursday night and today congratulated Congressman Markwayne Mullin (R-OK-2) on the passage of his first bill which ensures Native American veterans are properly honored for their service in defense of the United States.

“Congratulations to Congressman Mullin for the passage of his first piece of legislation through Congress," said Inhofe. "I know first hand that he worked diligently on this bill that honors our country's Native American veterans, and I was proud to see passage of his bill in the Senate. It goes to show the great pride he has in the district and the people he represents in Oklahoma."

The Native American Veterans’ Memorial Amendments Act of 2013 would allow the construction of a Native American Veterans’ memorial on the property of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Inhofe cosponsored S. 1046, the Senate companion bill to Mullin’s inaugural legislation. The bill passed the Senate unanimously.
